2007

Jennalou_12

As 2007 is coming to a close I'm really exhausted and ready for a new year to begin. So much has happened and changed in this year!

Last year at this point I had just quit my job to do Jenna Lou Designs full time. It was a scary time full of questions and dreams. With the support of John and my family I continued working hard and things just kept blossoming.

2007 was the year we bought our first home, and learned some of the joys and agonies of home ownership. We drove to Chicago for my first big craft fair. We flew to Florida for a wedding and vacation, I finished my first quilt, and rediscovered time and time again why I LOVE being self employed. I published my first sewing pattern of hopefully many to come. My mother married the most wonderful man in a hospital bed with a bouquet of white daises.

It was a wonderful year!

I'm taking the rest of 2007 off to take some personal time. To relax and enjoy myself, my family, and my friends. I hope you do the same and enjoy every minute of it!! I'll see you soon in 2008!

**I'm loving my new glasses and the hat I crocheted with this pattern :D I don't think mine turned out right because it's pretty loose, but it's still cute!!

Reading Corner

Corner

This weekend I stole a few hours to myself to finish the cushion pad cover for this corner in my bedroom. I used a really pretty fabric with organic shapes that just melts into my room and added a blue edging to spruce it up a bit.

I still want to hang some art work... maybe some photos in this nook, but otherwise it's complete, comfortable and all mine to enjoy for hours and hours of reading time.

Jennalou

ps... can you believe how fast December is flying by? I sure can't!! There is still so much to be done!

Ornaments

I know... I know... I've been horrible about posting lately. The reason my posts have been few and far between is a mystery to me. I want to post, I'm just having a hard time finding time... and inspiration. The winter is always a bit harder for me. You know... I'm not really into the fabrics of the season and the view from my window is miserable. All I want to do all day long is bake and read and sleep.

Mushroom_ornment

Luckily though a few ornaments from the holiday swap have finally started to trickle in. They have been so fun to open up and I always run around the house to share them with all who will look. I got this one yesterday and I can't get over how impressive it is. The details are amazing and I'm thinking that while the rest of my ornaments get packed away for the season, this guy will likely hang out in my studio all year round. I even took photos of the darling wrapping cause it was all to die for! Thanks Angela!! I really love my mushroom :D

Then today when the door bell rang, there on my stoop was a box from Janis with two adorable ornaments in it. I'll share when I get a chance for some better pictures in the sun, but for now they are all mine to enjoy :D

ps. Did anyone get a chance to make the caramel? I've made 4 (count em'), 4 batches already!!! They work well for gifts, so guess what mom... you're getting some :D

Winter Blooms

Amaryllis

My winter bulbs have sprung into full bloom this week. As I left on Friday for the No-Coast show my Amaryllis was only beginning to open up, and when I returned it had really evolved. This is my very first year planting winter bulbs for indoor enjoyment and I've become a real addict. You see... I don't have the best track record with house plants. They usually do well for a while, but within 6 months they are in really sad condition which usually is very uninspiring and I end up killing it. But with these bulbs I feel like there is nothing I could do to stop it. They are so willing to just live on and will do everything in their power to shoot out those BIG beautiful blooms.

Paper_whites

I got some paper whites too and am thoroughly enjoying the scent they give off. ** pst... do you see my little helper in the background? She had to sneak in for the photo op. **

I wonder... does anyone know if it's too late to start more of these?? I'd love to get a whole group of them going so I can enjoy them all over my house.

Postcard_packs As a quick note I thought I'd mention that I'm FINALLY adding the postcard packs that I've had ready to go for months now to the shop. Don't know how I kept forgetting to photograph them, but it seemed that every time I had a chance

to do so it was cloudy out. Anyways they are available in "Sew Savvy" and "Sweet Tooth".

Restocking Shop

Shop_restocking_2

I'm back from the weekend. Not totally recovered, but back and happy. The show was a wonderful success despite the winter snowing we got on Saturday. The roads were to bad for us to drive home on
Saturday so we stayed at a friends for the night.

I feel like I have a cold coming on. I'm a bit stiff and can't seem to warm up, so today I'm going to take it a bit easy by catching up on some shipping and updating the shop with some of the leftovers from the show. Sorry for the short post. I'll be back. I promise, just need some time yet to get back on my feet.
