Today I partook in a great tradition. Lefse making.
At our church it is a yearly practice to meet on Tuesday mornings to mix, roll, and flip. Everyone has their job and everything has it's place. These batches of lefse are then sold at a yearly bazaar where they are so sought after that they have had to put a limit on how many a person can buy. It's truly a delicious treat made even sweeter by knowing the effort and care that was put into it.
There is something so fascinating to me about learning a skill like this. It's something that will stay with me forever. Not just the physical skill itself, but the memories of those who made it before me... those who labored with love to make things by hand and those who took the time to cherish it, preserve it, and know the value of passing it along.

That is SO neat that you were able to take part in learning this wonderful tradition and 'craft'!! Martin's mom makes the most amazing lefse and about this time of year we start to get some SERIOUS cravings for it! It is a skill I have yet to learn but hope to sometime in the future. We need to have her to our house and she can teach both Breanna and I how to make it. I know Martin would like to learn, too!! What great fun to pass down from generation to generation!! Yummmy!...now you've got my mouth watering!! ;)
Have a blessed weekend! <><

Delicious! I love lefse, and I LOVE learning new crafty, foody things! Looks like you had a great time.
JennaLou, I'm excited to FINALLY be able to say that I have my new etsy business, Alt-Soap, up and running! It's been a whirlwind two years, full of researching, learning, brainstorming, designing, producing, photographing, editing, and now I finally have something to show for it. So, I give you: Alt-Soap, by MirandaRanda. www.mirandaranda.etsy.com.
I hope you find that it is a great improvement to my previous shop! :)
Take care,
Miranda

Wow! These photos tell a story too. I love lefse. I used to work at a specialty shop years ago and one of the gals made lefse for the customers.
What a great day learning the lefse traditions!
