My whole obsession and jealousy and lust for an industrial sewing machine began when Allyson got hers. I'll admit it was on my mind for probably over a year before that, but I had always put it off and really my Bernina is such a dream most of the time that I never seriously flirted with others. But upon seeing Allyson's it got my gears turning again and I delved deep into a research period followed by about a week of knowing it would happen, but trying to decide how and when. Then like all great decisions in life I just jumped on it.
And I couldn't be happier with my decision to get my Juki. My love. My soul mate...*clears throat" umm well... my friend and partner in crafting crime. She's model DNU-1541 and she's a gem. This girl rips through layers of heavyweight fabric backed with interfacing like none other and I'm hoping to spend some time in the next couple months becoming familiar with leather as a new medium. The absence of the sound of a steam roller plowing through our house every time I made a gusset in a heavy weight bag has both John and I amazed... the juki just hums.
The Bernina still has a strong place in my heart too. Where the Juki has strength and speed, the Bernina can be delicate and has great precision and so she will always have a place in my craft room too.

A sewing crafter's DREAM!! :) What a great set-up you have now. I bet you can really get some work done in there!
Speaking of which, I'd like to have you make me a nice sized bag that will work as a fashionable purse bag/diaper bag!! :) Any suggestions or ideas??...I'm sure you have many!
See ya at Thanksgiving!!

Hi Jenna,
I have the same machine and I also love it! I use mine for most of the heavy duty stuff (I have it threaded with 69 thread and 18 needle). Are you using yours with heavy thread/needle or normal weight/needle? I've never tried it with normal weight thread. Isn't it nice to go over bulk without feeling like you’re going to break your machine? I can't wait to see at the nice things you make with your new machine.
Take care,
Cheryl = )

are you loving your new machine? i'm drooling. i've been thinking about taking the plunge and get an industrial. just curious, why did you choose this model? do you recommend it for other bag makers? i'm torn between and industrial juki and a semi industrial TL98Q (table top quilting machine) to conserve on space. any tips and recommendations would be great. emjoy your new best friend!! ;)
